Google is taking lot of steps to show only the high quality and relevant search results. It is releasing many algorithm changes named as “Penguin” to avoid showing the low quality websites that artificially build backlinks from low quality and irrelevant websites.

If you have hired inefficient SEO firms to promote your websites, they might have used some blackcat SEO approaches to show you the search traffic quickly. After the Penguin update, your site will not get any search traffic from Google.

You can check your Google Analytics report to find whether your site got affected by Penguin update. If search traffic to your site got reduced on particular date which is near to the major Penguin update release dates, then we can understand that your site got affected by Penguin update.

In this case, you can download your backlinks or inbound links report from Google web masters tools site, and go thro’ the list of those links, to find any unnatural links. You may contact the web masters of the the unnatural links for requesting them to remove those links. If they are not removing the links, you can use the Google “Disavow Link Tool”.

You need to be very careful about using Google’s Disavow link Tool, because if you use it incorrectly, it will spoil your entire link building efforts.

Once you decide to use the Disavow tool, prepare .txt file with the list of links you want google to ignore. You specify entire domain by adding the word “domain:” before the domain name.

After preparing the file, upload it from Google’s Disavow link Tool.

Google may take few weeks to consider this request.
